An initiative to get school kids to think about the future, Eco Bricks aims to tackle the building amount of plastic waste, and the toxic environment it creates around them.
The idea is to create reusable building blocks with plastic bottles, that within them are strengthened by non-degradable plastics that are impacted inside. These can then be used to build benches, structures and buildings; the honeycomb-style brick stacking holds firm and reinforces the final build.
Co-op Midcounties want to implement this within schools in their region, creating a recycling mentality around the community. They wanted a large set up to take into schools, so the children could create their own Ecobrick structure.
We designed the artwork and created the set up taking visual inspiration from the values of the Co-op and the Ecobrick vision, producing a cohesive learning experience.
It included educational information about the harmful nature of plastic and the ways in which the children can do their part and be aware of the pollution plastic causes.
" "The reaction and involvement from our community in Chipping Norton has been phenomenal and captures the spirit of this year’s Co-op Fortnight celebration – that communities working together can make a positive difference with an act as small as collecting plastic bottles.
